Kitchen Cooking Tips & Tricks by Caitlin - Made to Make Your Life Easier

Slice avocados in their skin to make neat cubes. Then you only have one knife to wash up.

  1. Chop fresh herbs directly into your dish with scissors. No need to wash up a chopping board.

  2. Make fresh salad dressing each time you eat salad. Make it in the bottom of the bowl you will serve the salad in. Place the spoons or servers in the bowl and then add all of your ingredients (this will keep the salad separate and stop it going soggy). Don't mix until you are just ready to eat. Only one bowl to wash up!

  3. When you buy fresh herbs, use what you need and put the rest in the freezer in a labelled bag. Next time you need some 'fresh' herbs, simply take them out of the freezer and snip (with scissors) them directly into your dish, then return to the freezer. A great money saver and washing up saver too!

  4. To peel a whole clove of garlic, squash with clove with the side of a knife blade.

  5. Keep any fresh chilis in the freezer and take one out when you need it. Just snip off how much you need with scissors and then put the rest back in the freezer.
